Honoring the 100th Anniversary and Founder of the Czechoslovak StateTomas Garrigue Masaryk

Albert_Schweitzer_Nobel.jpg Award.jpg

Tomáš Masaryk and Albert Schweitzer were contemporaries, admirers of each other’s work, and worked as humanitarians. This award embraces two initiatives in that spirit. In 2018 a tree will be planted to commemorate the 100th Anniversary at the Czech Center Houston with an identifying plaque.

Both Tomáš Masaryk and Albert Schweitzer were Rotarians. The President of Rotary International Ian H. S. Risley has asked their 1.2 million members to each plant at least one tree this year.

The second initiative is in cooperation with the UK based Friends of the Czech Heritage. Since its inception, the Friends have supported over 30 restoration projects in the Czech Republic including Working Holidays on the projects.

The President of the Friends of the Czech Heritage allocated 2 places for 2019.  A development fund will be initiated and built for this purpose.
